Narrominded label night this Friday @ Smart Project Space, AmsterdamThis Friday, February 5 2010, we’ll throw a party in one of Amsterdam’s coolest venues, Smart Project Space. It’s gonna get ugly with Boutros Bubba, Fine China Superbone and Katadreuffe. But there will also be some lushus spacing out situations going on with Hydrus and Puin + Hoop live sets. And to top that off, Hunter Complex will present his debut album Hunter Complex this night! An evening not to be missed, we would say! Be welcome from 20:30.

Debut EP by Boutros Bubba is sold out, but...The cd Hearing Voicst in a Beer Commercial Makes Me Wanna Get Drunk (2006) by Boutros Bubba is sold out! We gave our last copy to the winner of our complete catalogue, a contest organised by Gonzo (circus). The debut EP by Boutros Bubba, when they were still a duo, was already avalaible as a free mp3 download, but because it’s sold out, you can now also download it as FLACS. Yes, we are generous people… Go here for the download links.

Recording of Boutros Bubba live at Stork on Air surfacesFinally found in the vaults of Boutros Bubba! A recording of the band live in the studio of the radio program Stork on Air on Radio West, September 3 2008. The band was invited to promote the Ground 3 Festival in The Hague where they played later that week. Listen to the band play a couple of macho mathrock tunes and doing a short interview in the player below or download the recording here.

Noiserockorgy: props and pictures!Last weekend’s shows in Het Patronaat CafĂ© in Haarlem and CafĂ© De Vinger in The Hague were a lot of fun. Thanks to the bands (Katadreuffe, Fine China Superbone, Blisters, Peal and Boutros Bubba) and everybody who showed up. Also lots of thanks to Joeri, who evidentely discovered the sepia-function on his digital camera, for taking many many shots. The pictures are all in our diary section. Check them out here and here. The next rock show is Thursday October 29 at Sub071 in Leiden with Roll Call For the Second Site (UK), Silent Front (UK) and Boutros Bubba. Hope to see you there!

Bad news + good news=two great showsThe two shows by the Scottish band Hey Enemy! that were to take place in Het Patronaat CafĂ© in Haarlem and CafĂ© De Vinger in The Hague have unfortunately been cancelled. In fact Hey Enemy! cancelled the entire tour. But, there is also good news, ’cause we found some very nice replacements. On Friday October 9 the reunited Amsterdam noiserockers from Blisters will play their first show in eight years. Also on this amazing bill in Het Patronaat in Haarlem are Katadreuffe and Fine China Superbone. The day after, Saturday October 10, Boutros Bubba wil play in The Hague at CafĂ© De Vinger together with The Hague math kings Peal. See you there!

Scottish magazine The Skinny reviews Boutros Bubba's National AnthemsJust after Boutros Bubba’s return from their UK tour, the Scottish magazine The Skinny reviews their album National Anthems. They call it ‘the skewed, angular, sarcastic outpouring of three gifted and apparently rather nihilistic patrons of that land where, some say, anything goes.’ Nice one! Read it here.

Boutros Bubba UK Tour ReportBoutros Bubba is back from their UK tour. On request of MusicFrom.nl they kept a journal during their week on the road. You can read the final result and look at some pictures here. If you want to see more tour pictures, check the Narrominded diary page here.

Boutros Bubba UK tour in SeptemberOn Friday September 11 2009, Boutros Bubba will leave for the UK to do five shows. They will set sail from IJmuiden in the northwest of Holland where a luxurious cruise ship will take them to the beautiful city of Newcastle. From there on they will head for Edinburgh to do two shows on Saturday September 12. Yes, two! The day after that they will play in Glasgow. After this they will be exhausted, so we’ve given them two days off, which they can spend sipping Margeritas on the Costa del UK. The last two shows are in London (16) and finally Bristol (17). If you’re in the area, check ’em out!

STNT reviews National Anthems by Boutros BubbaThe French zine STNT reviews the album National Anthems by Boutros Bubba. They compare it to The Jesus Lizard, Colossamite, Dazzling Killmen and U.S. Maple. ‘The drummer creates good dynamics that allow the guitarist to sail outside the pure mathrock, into noise and punk, but also in the waters of progjazz and even pop.’ In short: ‘un très bon album.’ Read the whole review here.

Puin + HoopDutch technology whizz’s/weirdos Puin + Hoop are going to record a new album for Narrominded. Until now they have released six albums/ep’s of their ambient improvisations through their own TBFKAGNK Records, the latest being ‘Live at Zaal 100′ which they recorded during their gig at the Boutros Bubba National Anthems cd presentation in March. The cd was already available the same evening!! Expect new material later this year.
